Wetnob - Ableton Live Effect Rack
What is Wetnob ?
Wetnob is an Ableton Live Effect Rack, built to allow any effect to be used with a DRY/WET knob.
What is it for ?
You want to make parallel compression ? You want to wet your sound with reverb, but not too much ? You want to add a small bit of that, and a small bit of this ? Wetnob is for you.
To be clear, Wetnob allow you to add a mix knob to any Ableton Live FX or any VST, in a very simple way.
Why did I make Wetnob ?
I downloaded several Live Effect Racks which are sold as a way to add that dry/wet knob to any FX or VSTs.
BUT,
They all missed one thing : to compensate the level difference between the wet signal and the dry signal.
With a small tweak, Wetnob allow you to keep the same dB level, whether your full wet or full dry, or 50/50.
Wetknob doesn't cause any volume issue and any phase issue. It's the right way to add a wet/dry knob to an FX in Ableton Live.
What do you get ?
An Ableton Live .adg file. This is the Ableton Live format for Effect Rack. To use it on your Ableton Live project, just slide the Wetnob.adg file from your Windows or macOS file browser into your track on Ableton Live. Save it as it is to find it faster later, and have it in your Ableton Live FX library.
How does it work ?
Imagine you have a compressor on your track. But that compressor does not have any dry/wet knob. Add Wetnob into your track, slide your compressor after the WET with the two small : WET ⬇︎⬇︎ (and before the FX named OUT GAIN).
Then you can add more or less of that compression with the knob named WET 0-100 %. 100 % is full wet, which means that 100 % of your signal go through the compressor. 0 % is full dry, which means none of your signal go through the compressor.
If you want, you can adjust the out gain of Wetnob. This way, you can compare your sound with or without Wetnob more easily.
