Twelve - Ableton Live Effect Rack
What is Twelve ?
Twelve is an Ableton Live Effect Rack, emulating the sound of my E-mu SP-12. What is an E-mu SP-12 ? Well... I let you Google that instead of saying that the E-mu SP-12 is a famous sampler for hip hop and some other type of music, very used in the 90s, and that you can hear that SP-12 bits sound in beats from Pete Rock, DJ Muggs, Large Professor, Q-Tip, Madlib & many other great ones...
Why did I made Twelve ?
I own an E-mu SP-12, but I also like to work fast. So for me, it is always a pain in the ass to have to route my sound into the sampler to get that gritty feeling, and that ringing sound. That's why I worked several days building this Effect Rack for Ableton Live. I get my SP-12 sound that I love, without the boring stuff of sampling and resampling.
I kept the Effet Rack simple, but could not resist adding an Xtra ring parameter for more 12 bits sauce.
What is it for ?
Twelve works great on samples and drums. Add it to your track to colour a sound, the same way a small trip to an Emu SP-12 sampler would colour that sound !
What do you get ?
An Ableton Live .adg file. This is the Ableton Live format for Effect Rack. To use it on your Ableton Live project, just slide the Twelve.adg file from your Windows or macOS file browser into your track on Ableton Live. Save it as it is to find it faster later, and have it in your Ableton Live FX library FOR SOME SP-12 SAUCE!
How does it work ?
When you add it on a track, it immediately simulates the SP-12. Here is information on the knobs :
- SP-12 0-100% : that is your dry/wt knob. 127 (100 %), and you got the real SP-12 sound. Less than 127, and you got a bit of it, more or less. 0 and the effect is deactivated
- MONO off/on : the E-mu SP-12 is a mono sampler. That means that every sample you pass through it will come back as mono. That knob is like a button. On 127 (= "on"), it makes your sound full mono. On 0 (= "off"), you get your original stereo back
- XTRA 0-100% : add a bit more of that ringing SP-12-style sound if you want. Use it wisely and by small amount !
- XTRA freq : choose your ringing frequency. Some frequency might work better with drums, some other better with long samples
- Hi Cut off/on : work like a button to activate or deactivate a high cut filter. There are 2 frequency for that high cut : 6 kHz and 8 kHz. See the knob named Hi Cut 6/8 kHz, which allows you to choose between 6 kHz and 8 kHz for the Hi Cut
- IN and OUT gain : if you need more level before or after the FX
There are also some 7 presets on the left. Play with it, you might like some of them, I am sure !
Have fun with it !
Please enjoy it. It cost 10 € only.

It is a one knob rack with the SP-12 sound from the full Twelve rack.
P.S. : I am not against some feedback, to know if you like Twelve or not.
